My first single...

Updated: Mar 5, 2021

Musicians: Graham Hughes (Flugelbone, harmonica & vocals) and Ben Hazleton (Double Bass & vocals)

On the back of the fantastic two-double-bass experiment last week, Graham and Ben returned to BSL for another afternoon of music. On this occasion, Ben was on bass duties, with Graham "triple-threat" Hughes on flugelbone (complete with various mutes), harmonica and vocals.

Several Beatles songs went down very well with resident G.H, sat in his usual spot outside the lifts on the second floor.

Resident S.B then began to recite Scotland The Brave, to which the musicians improvised a highland jig on bass and harmonica.

On the ground floor, Graham and Ben visited resident AK. Ben sang Charlie Daniel's The Devil Came Down To Georgia - a rocking bluegrass number about about the Devil's attempt to gain a young man's soul through a fiddle-playing contest. It's a great song - check it out if you've never heard it.

AK later told Ben that it was one of the first singles he ever owned. Another of the strange coincidences which seem to follow us around. AK has a wide and deep knowledge of music about which the guys chatted after playing.
