"He's a funky guy"
Updated: Mar 5
Musicians: Alice Zawadzki (voice and violin) and Nat Keen (guitar)
Today we spent time with resident J. Her husband is Turkish and during our summer series in the garden of BSL, he requested a song called Gesi Baglarinda. At the time, singer Alice Zawadzki knew the song a little, and managed to “busk” it with guitarist Luca Boscagin. Since then she had learned it properly and today she and guitarist Nat Keen performed it for J. Despite having very little speech, with a great effort, J was able to tell us the impact the song had on her:
- Resident J, BSL
Resident S loves reggae, so Nat and Alice played Bob Marley’s No Woman No Cry, which was received with beaming smiles. Resident IJ was happy to see us and sat calmly smiling as Alice sang songs from IJ's native Ireland.
We visited resident R in his room. Alice confessed - “because he’s Italian, i’ve assumed he must like opera - how silly.” They played Herbie Hancock’s Watermelon Man.
“He was dancing and grooving. He’s a funky guy”
