December was something of a party month at Bridgeside Lodge this year. The BSL Christmas party on 8th was as always, an afternoon of absolute and wonderful chaos. On the 12th we celebrated the 10th anniversary of The Spitz Charitable Trust. Surely two parties in one month is enough? No.
For several years we have marked the Winter Solstice at Bridgeside. Welcoming the longest night, (rather than mourning the shortest day). After a quicker-than-usual tour of the floors, we made our way out in to the garden which was milder than usual but also very windy! Not normally an issue but when the scene is being set with torches driven into the ground, a strong gust can somewhat compromise the atmosphere!
Alice Zawadzki had arranged a number of festive pieces to be performed by the quartet, opening with Winter Wonderland…

…and ending with a magnificent recital of T’was The Night Before Christmas.
